How do I get a library card?

Library Cards are free to residents of Monroe County.  Visit any public library in Monroe County and present your NYS photo i.d. with your current address.  If your photo i.d. does not show your current address, bring proof of address, i.e. a current piece of mail, a bill, etc.  Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian present to receive a library card.  The parent/guardian must show proof of address.

How old does my child need to be to get a library card?

Getting a library card is a special event in a child's life.  It is also a big responsibility.  We recommend that a child be five years old before getting a library card.  Both the child and the parent/guardian must be present to register for a library card.  The parent/guardian must show proof of address.

Yes!  You have access to every public library in Monroe County.  Click here for a list of libraries with locations and hours.  You can also request an item from another Monroe County library and have it delivered to the library of your choice.  This is called a hold.  There is no fee for picking up holds at the Parma Public Library.

No! We have gone fine-free on all overdue items! Patrons are still responsible for damaged and lost items.

What happens if I fail to pay fines or lose materials and do not make an effort to replace or pay for the lost item(s)?

To protect taxpayer dollars, the Monroe County Library System must make every effort to recover lost materials.  All unresolved accounts over $35 will be turned over to the collection agency Unique Management Services, Inc.  A service charge of $20 will be added to the balance.  Please speak to a staff member about resolving unpaid fines and lost materials.  We are happy to work out a payment plan to help you put your account in good standing.

Does the library accept donations?

Yes, please bring your donations to the Mainly Books bookstore run by the Friends of the Parma Public Library.  They gladly accept donations of gently used books and DVDs.  They do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, magazines or VHS.  All proceeds benefit the Library.
