Who are the Friends of the Parma Public Library?

The Friends of the Parma Public Library are a non-profit group of volunteers dedicated to helping the library fund special projects and promote reading and the use of our library. This work includes:

Running Mainly Books, the Hilton community used bookstore
Organizing bi-annual book sales at the Parma Public Library
Providing financial assistance to the library that ensures quality programming, new materials, and equipment for the community
Supporting costs for special projects, such as our VIP passes, Bookpage subscription, visiting presenters, and summer reading prizes

Donating to Mainly Books

We accept donations of gently used books and media items and help them find loving new homes! If you're interested in donating to the bookstore, read on to see the kind of donations the bookstore accepts. Please note, all donations must be dropped off directly at Mainly Books - donations are not accepted at the Parma Public Library.

Mainly Books is happy to accept the following items as donations for resale:

Regular and Large Print Books
CDs
DVDs
Games
Puzzles

The book store cannot accept:

Encyclopedias
Magazines and Newspapers
Textbooks
VHS Tapes or Cassette Tapes
Textbooks
Items in poor condition
Items that are smoky, musty, moldy, or water damaged

Support the library - join the friends!

There are so many ways you can help support the library by working with the friends.

Become a member - For a small fee, you can become a member of the Friends of the Parma Library. Benefits include one free book at every book sale, as well as email notification of upcoming book sales. Dues are collected once a year, and you can sign up by filling out the application at the library or at our next book sale.
Volunteer - There's so much to be done! Friends volunteers help staff Mainly Books, set up and tear down book sales, and sort through donations. Have skills but not much time? We're always looking for people who excel with social media and marketing, event planning, and fundraising.
Meet with Us - The Friends meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 2:00pm at the Hilton United Methodist Church. Meetings are open to the public.
